About the farm:
Izuba, meaning “sun” in Kirundi, is located in Runinya, Kabarore Commune, within Kayanza Province. This washing station sits near a river, ensuring a consistent freshwater supply for coffee processing. Managed by Ntama Appolinaire, alongside Prosper Merrimee, the operational manager of RM Burundi, Izuba supports a team of two full-time staff and approximately 250 seasonal workers, all from the local community. Positioned near Kibira National Park, the region’s rich soil and favourable climate create ideal conditions for producing exceptional coffee.
This lot has been decaffeinated using the Ethyl Acetate (EA) process, a natural method that uses a compound derived from sugarcane to gently remove caffeine while preserving the coffee’s flavour integrity. This results in a smooth, well-balanced decaf with the same vibrant characteristics as its caffeinated counterpart.
